Troop 1559 has a year-round program, with an overnight camping trip almost every month. The Scouts themselves plan these trips. The Troop’s monthly outing program is designed to provide the Scouts with fun, new skills, and advancement. In addition to meeting requirements for advancing in rank, outings provide opportunities for earning merit badges, including Camping, Cycling, Hiking, Cooking, Backpacking, Pioneering, Orienteering, Wilderness Survival, and many others.
Before going on an outing, each Scout must have a permission form signed by his parent and all participants must have a current BSA medical information form (Class 1) on file. Medical information must be updated each year. Adult leaders and drivers are parent volunteers of Scouts participating in the outing. A trip fee (usually $15) is assessed for each activity to cover the expenses incurred for that outing. Generally the fee includes transportation, meals, and any park entrance, toll, and campground fees.
